Early-access waitlist
New teacher accounts are not open yet. The waitlist stores your email, optional first name, high-school subject, school type, state and your account-ready email choice. These details are private company-owner records, not anonymous investor metrics. We use them to manage early access and only send account-ready emails when you check the permission box. No advertising pixels are installed. Email delivery is not enabled yet. The classroom practices below describe the implemented product; they are not a claim that new accounts are available today.
Scholar™ by Nyclogic AI™ ("we") provides a daily-lesson tool for teachers and students. This policy explains what we collect and why. We never sell personal data and never use student data for advertising.
Information we collect
- Teachers: account name, email, sign-in provider and classes/lessons.
- Students: numbered class labels, hashes of device and recovery credentials, and submitted answers, writing and questions. No student accounts, emails, passwords or birthdays.
- Nicknames remain on the student device. Teacher roster names and optional student/family contacts remain in encrypted IndexedDB on the teacher’s computer.
- Joining is rate-limited using hashed network/device identifiers; attempt records are removed during daily cleanup.
Privacy mode
Privacy mode defaults on for every class. Disabling it requires a school’s signed data agreement confirmation and school/district name, recorded with a timestamp. Code-only student access and local roster keys remain available.
AI and providers
Before any AI request leaves Scholar, a conservative filter replaces detected names, contact details, school names, labels and identifiers. Automated redaction is imperfect, so please do not paste personal details. Our AI provider is Anthropic. We use Anthropic’s commercial API. We never send student names, and typed text is filtered for names first. Anthropic’s handling of API data is governed by its commercial terms.
Service providers: Supabase (database and sign-in, United States, us-east-1), Cloudflare (hosting and content delivery), Anthropic (AI), and Google (optional teacher sign-in).
Scholar Study
Scholar Study (students.nyclogicai.com) is a free study helper for students. Before it starts, it asks for a birth year. Only the resulting age band is kept, on the device; the year is not kept.
- Under 13: Scholar Study is not available. These students can only join a teacher’s class with a class code.
- 13 to 17: no account. Progress stays on the device. Scholar only sees a random device code, which it keeps as a one-way hash to count daily limits.
- 18 and over: an optional account with an email, a password and a nickname. Scholar stores the nickname, study progress and a hashed sign-in session.
Topics and questions typed into Scholar Study pass the same identifier filter before they go to our AI provider. Photos of notes are sent as images and cannot be filtered, so please avoid photos that show names. Scholar does not save typed questions, essays or photos after the answer is made. Study progress is the list of practiced topic titles, scores and study days.
No ads, no advertising pixels and no third-party analytics. Account holders can delete their account at any time on the Your data page (/study/data) with the “Delete my account” button; this deletes the nickname, progress and sign-in sessions. Device-mode progress is deleted with the “Delete data on this device” button on the same page, or by clearing this site’s data in the browser. Step-by-step instructions are on Delete your account or data. Daily-limit counters are deleted after a few days.
School-email drafts
Optional recipients are read from the unlocked local roster key and passed directly to a mail app chosen by the teacher. Scholar never sends these emails or stores recipient addresses. Drafts list missing assignment names, due dates and a class link, never grades or scores.
Retention and deletion
Export class data in CSV and JSON. Student deletion removes the student’s work. Class and account deletion have a 7-day undo window before permanent removal. Archived student work is deleted after 12 months by default, unless disabled. The end of free access does not block deletion or export. Backups follow our database provider’s standard plan retention.
Security
Teacher data is owner-scoped. Students reach only their own work through verified device tokens; no anonymous table access. Local roster keys use passphrase-derived PBKDF2/AES-GCM encryption. Lost keys and passphrases cannot be recovered by Scholar.
